How do you even define a filler episode for this show? its literally different stories one after another. Even the canon ones. What are you guys following?

i get that theres a canon storyline in the manga and everything that happens here on the anime and not in the manga are therefore fillers, but if you're just watching the anime, does it really matter? especially for shows like this one, where there is really no straight line when it comes to story telling. like arcs or clear character developments over defined periods and the like, you get what i mean. Its literally one story after another for each episode. So does it really matter if its a filler? are you guys speedrunning or something? genuine question. Cause for me, filler episodes for shows like this are actually a great thing. Just curious of what you guys think.

It's been years since I started watching Conan but I still to this day dont get the comments saying "ugh it's a filler" like?? Are you watching DC JUST for the original story or for DETECTIVE Conan? It's called DC for a reason. He's an detective. Do they want shinichi to only focus on getting his body back? This is a ANIME. Like what did they expect? If they are that annoyed they can only read the manga. I watch DC for the murder cases and the way Conan finds the murderer. I dont want to watch a anime where a boy who got drugged into a child body ONLY running after a solution to get back his body. As a True crime lover, I watch DC for the cases. The BO neve interested me and it's way too complicated for me. Too many people too many deaths and too many allies and enemies that you don't know which Is conans friend and which not. I usually like Angst and drama but not with DC. Same with the hate for the detective boys and little girls who find Conan cute. Like? She's a CHILD. The DB are CHILDREN. they react like normal children would do. Except them not getting a trauma from seeing all the corpses lmao. It's like 70% of the DC fans are watching for the BO and 25% for ran and shinichi. The rest are me who take DC as an ACTUAL anime. And not ONE plot.

Detective Conan doesn’t feel like a drama usually it’s a detective show but it’s sorta a mystery to solve but it’s not like waiting months like law and order in my opinion it’s sorta Scooby doo a bit but has a bit of adventurous I mean ever since the dangerous adventures sometimes Conan has an easy premise to understand that doesn’t feel too repetitive sometimes but when it comes to the characters shinichi is usually the smartest while everyone feels dumb

Honestly naruto is sorta the reason people feel meh on filler I know that because I experienced that series

tbh i always get into this debate with people who say they can't watch 1000+ episodes of conan but will go and watch 1000+ episodes of one piece for a example which is filled with nonsense, many actual fillers and whole reminiscing moments that take up almost entire episodes and very boring overall just stretching the anime for no reason but with conan, you get to enjoy complex and smart plot twists & cases, like if you skip these episodes then why even bother watch it from the start? every episode is like interesting in its own way, people just want to "achieve" many "finished" animes under their belt to like flex how many animes they've watched and it's sad because no one really cares how many you've watched, watching anime is for your own entertainment, so it's no rush and competition on who can watch more and finish more animes. it's just sad there's people that don't get to enjoy the actual thing and get robbed of the full experience.

How do you even define a filler episode for this show?

IMO anything that isn't canon (ie anime originals) are filler. Some people might define it as anything that doesn't contribute to the main plot.

if you're just watching the anime, does it really matter

Depends on the person. Some people prefer to save time and just watch main plot/canon episodes. Especially for something as daunting as conan with 1k+ eps, they can catch up much faster.

The first time I watched KHR, I skipped all the "filler" eps (like 10-40 or so). For me, the first time I watch a show, I prefer to see how the main plot is before I go back and potentially rewatch stuff. Did that for Khr, did that for DC.

There's actually a list on Xer that has all the important/notable episodes that mark character development as well. Obviously that's subjective, but I think if someone likes the show enough, they'll watch everything and if not, they can afford to skip around.

Not really arcs it’s pretty episodic honestly it’s usually part 2 but either than that

Blame naruto and one piece for many people feeling meh on filler honestly.Detective Conan is hit or miss to me where the filler is interesting and where it’s boring .One filler I don’t like is the computer and probably the vampire one after making it here

One Piece doesn't actually have a lot of filler, some arcs just feel like filler at times. And some of the few bigger filler arc are pretty good, like 'Warship Island' and 'G-8', others though like 'Goat Island' aren't as good.

There are those traditional Japanese episodes where the straw hat crew is wearing though

There is nothing wrong in categorizing whether this episode is a filler or not.

There are people who don't care about it and they are just enjoying DC as it is, and there are also people who are immersed in acknowledging/following the storyline. Because through that, you will be able to determine which episodes follow the story of Conan and the Black Organization.

Nevertheless, in the end, please just enjoy this anime the way you like it. :)

Honestly most of the filler episodes are entertaining than most battle shonen unless you count Gintama or my hero academia in my opinion

OH NO!!! Not another one of these little girls please don't make me sit through this I'm at my limit. Why would they do this to the viewer don't they want people to watch and enjoy the show!??!! She is so insufferable. Like the rest of the troupe seem cool but it's just this one girl. I just have to make it through these 2 episodes and I'll finally have a good canon episode I can do this.

The cute little girl is fine I mean this show rarely does it I mean the last time we had that was the ghost ship case and that wasn’t long ago and ayumi is the only cute girl that the author uses in the show anyway as this is a filler
